Expander FAQ

What are the cost benefits of the Expander System for an OEM operation like mine?

There are several advantages to incorporating the Expander System into your machinery. The quick and easy installation streamlines assembly processes while the robust design reduces subassembly needs, both lowering overall build costs. The pivot design also boosts the value of machines by minimizing vibration, increasing performance, and reducing maintenance costs.

Do you provide additional services that would be helpful to me as an OEM customer?

Yes! There are many ways OEM operations benefit from choosing Expander. Our global supply chain enables on-time and reliable delivery. We offer tailored marking and full traceability, along with industry certifications like DNV, TÜV, and ISO. There’s also engineering support and design assistance, including customization that incorporates specific machine marking or band logos.

Is there a minimum number required per order?

No. We handle production orders both large and small. So, no matter if you are looking for just one, a few, hundreds, or thousands a year, we can meet your needs. We also offer flexible agreements to make sure you have a consistent flow of just the right volumes for your production.

Do you make any accommodations for “factory deliveries”?

Of course. We can connect and work with a variety of web-based EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) solutions or supplier portals to more easily support communication and adapt to your production forecasting. We can also ensure your Expander System arrives fully assembled, semi-assembled, or only as components with printed out and/or digital assembly instructions.

What size range is the Expander System available in?

We do not have a specific range of sizes. The Expander System technology is designed and produced based on what is needed and can be adapted for virtually all sizes. We’ve produced pins with diameters that range from Ø8 millimeters (0.3 inches) to Ø460 mm (14.2 in), and as long as 2.40 meters (7.87 feet). We’re here to help meet your needs.

Is it possible to have a common range of pivot pins for all machines we make?

Yes. We’re more than happy to work with your design team on consolidation projects. Thanks to our advanced engineering tool, we always try to minimize the number of parts and variations used when we do designs for multiple machines at once. Even if we will always recommend the strongest solutions, we give options!

What information do I need to provide to order or receive a cost estimate?

The Extended Inquiry Sheet, provided by your Sales representative, is the basis for us to be able to provide a quote. Following the design phase of the pin solution, we provide STEP files for seamless incorporation into your machine architecture. Contact us

Are any special tools needed for installing the Expander System?

No. Standard hand tools for loosening and tightening nuts and bolts, and grease are normally all you need. See the installation and removal guide for your Expander System to learn more.

Are there any customization or tooling options for even faster installation?

We can design your Expander System with flanges or threads to be used with tools like a “bearing puller” or jackbolt to make it easier and faster to install. Expander Tooling, meanwhile, provides solutions like slide hammers for quickly and safely pushing or pulling especially large pins into place. Contact us or ask your Expander sales rep for more information.

Can the Expander System be installed with access to only one side of the pivot?

Yes. The Expander System’s through-bolt design allows it to be torqued and mounted from one side.

Can you help with an urgent international delivery of aftermarket replacements?

We understand how challenging it is when a customer or dealer calls about a critical machine that’s down, especially if it's in a country far away. That’s why, even though Expander Systems can usually be delivered within 48 hours of being ordered, we offer a rush option. For an additional fee, we’ll use overnight production and express shipping to expedite delivery.
